WHAT IS DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SEPARATION AND DIVORCE? |
|
The main difference between separation and divorce is that under a marital separation the mutual rights and obligations to one another become regulated depending on which State you may reside. The benefit to separation is that if the Spouse dies the other automatically will receive any and all of the inheritance.
After a divorce has been finalized the Spouses no longer have any rights or obligations to one another besides any child support or alimony payments may or may not have to be paid. |
